Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye left for Australia midway the IPL in the wake of COVID-19 surge in India, was critical of the franchises spending insane money on cricket at a time when their country is facing an unprecedented health crisis.

“Looking at it from an Indian point of view, how are these companies and franchises spending so much money, and the government, on the IPL when there’s people not being able to get accepted into hospital?
Tye, however, said the league should go ahead if it was a means to relieving stress or giving a glimmer of hope to those who are suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Royal Challengers Bangalore players Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have decided to return to Australia mid-way through the IPL for personal reasons, RCB said on Monday.
“Adam Zampa & Kane Richardson are returning to Australia for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of #IPL2021. Royal Challengers Bangalore management respects their decision and offers them complete support,” RCB tweeted.

India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, 34, also said he is taking a break from the IPL to support his family.
