The TMC supporters pelted stones at the CBI office over the arrest of West Bengal ministers ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and TMC MLA Madan Mitra.

CM Mamata Banerjee also reached the CBI office. Meanwhile, TMC supporters also protested outside the Raj Bhawan, the residence of Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, over the arrest of ministers and TMC leaders.

“The way they have been arrested without due procedure, CBI will have to arrest me also,” the Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reportedly said at the CBI office.

Along with the TMC leaders, former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee was also picked up by the CBI in the same case. The TMC leaders were taken to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in the Narada sting operation case and later were arrested. A few days ago, Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had given permission to the CBI for prosecution of these TMC leaders.

Kalyan Banerjee appeared for arrested person and sought bail for all. He argued that the Governor has no power to give sanction in this case.

“It is a five-year-old case. Every arrested person has always cooperated with CBI. Hence, this arrest is a clear case of political vindictiveness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor Jagdeep Dhankar tweeted that he was “concerned at the alarming situation.” He urged Ms. Banerjee to follow constitutional norms and rule of law.

After the incident, the people of India and opposition raised many questions on the Mamta government.
