Meet Mayur Shelke, the Indian Railways personnel who saved a kid from train accident.

CCTV footage from the incident shows the child accidently falling off the platform just as a train was approaching. “I ran towards the child but also thought that I might be in danger too. Still, I thought I should save him,” Shelke said, according to news agency ANI. “The woman (with the child) was visually impaired. She could do nothing,” he added.

His bravery has become the talk of the internet. From ministers to his own railway department, everyone is thanking the young man for his heroic act. The railway staff has also felicitated Shelke. “All the best, keep doing well. Hardly anyone could do what you did by saving the life of a 6-year-old,” an official can be heard saying in a video posted by ANI. “There is nothing bigger than saving lives,” the official added.

The entire nation praised him for his heroic work.

Piyush Goyal tweeted and said, “Very proud of Mayur Shelke, Railwayman from the Vangani Railway Station in Mumbai who has done an exceptionally courageous act, risked his own life & saved a child’s life.

Gautam Adani said, “I salute Mayur Shelke’s selflessness and exemplary heroism. This railway pointsman risked his own life to save the life of a child who fell on the tracks at Vangani station in Maharashtra. Mayur, your bravery inspires us all.

Mayur Shelke didn’t have a costume or cape, but he showed more courage than the bravest movie SuperHero. All of us at the Jawa family salute him. In difficult times, Mayur has shown us that we just have to look around us for everyday people who show us the way to a better world..,” tweeted Anand Mahindra.
